Tonight, Thursday the 28th of December we’ll be showing that classic Sydney musical fantasia:

In homage to this fantastic piece of Sydney cinema history we’re screening the film under the Harbour Bridge in the park right in front of the Harbour View Hotel where much of the action in the film takes place - bring a rug and come witness the marvelous pop-rock frenzy that is Starstruck.

To get there just travel along George street in The Rocks towards the harbour - the road splits and becomes Hickson Road - don’t go down Hickson but veer up to the left - the road continues up to the Harbour View Hotel. Once you get there there’s a park under the bridge to the right - see you there at 8:30pm (sharp!!!)

Redfern Outdoor Cinema has run into a bit of bother with our screenings in the field on Cope Street in Redfern

This summer we made the decision to advertise the cinema more widely in the hope of attracting lots of local residents and other interested people to the screenings. Rewardingly this proved a success and a small following for the Sunday night screenings began to develop. Sadly though with the increased visibility and advertising we also attracted the concern of the Indigenous Land Council who have recently purchased the land for future redevelopment. The ILC contacted us last week and requested we discontinue screenings until we get Public Liability Insurance.

So, we’ve found ourselves in a tricky situation.

We really want to keep showing films in this great space and to foster the growing attendance and local awareness of the screenings.

But public liability insurance is way too expensive.

We’re trying to come up with a solution but in the meantime we’ll have to show films in other locations.
